About Us

St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana was formed and founded in 1925.  At this writing, we are preparing to celebrate our 95th anniversary on July 12 of this year.

We love to worship and praise our gracious and merciful Savior and Lord Christ Jesus.  He reigns, His Eternal Holy Spirit rules and His Word is rightly divided.  As a result, we offer a relaxed yet reverent atmosphere of worship in the preached Word and in song.  Our motto is, “There is no church, like our church”, because of the uniqueness we have been blessed with by the Spirit of God.

Our pastor is Frederick Alexander Sleet.  He has been serving as the pastor / servant since February 13, 2005.  He has been married to Carolyn J. Taylor Sleet since 1982 and is the father of 3 children, Corey, Roderick and Alexis.

He also serves as the General Secretary of the Northern Indiana Missionary Baptist District Association under the leadership of Moderator Dr. Charles M. Morgan of Galilee Missionary Baptist of Gary, Indiana.

In addition, Pastor Sleet also serves as the Director General of the General Missionary Baptist State Convention of Indiana Congress, under Dr.  Charles Adams, Congress President; Rev. Andre Adams, Congress Dean and Dr. Ronald Covington, State President.

As a lover of the Word of God that reveals the Son of God, Pastor Sleet is dedicated to the Great Commission of Jesus Christ......to rightly divide His Word to evangelize, teach, preach, baptize and make disciples for His Kingdom.
